Catholic Christian Formation And Religious Activities
A Religion program has been laid out for Nathanaelians to help them become living witnesses of Christ. St. Nathanael Academy strives to provide a community in which a unique fashion of Christian Living and academic goals can be realized. And so, all students are required to participate actively in the different liturgical and para-liturgical services and activities, to strengthen the child through:
1. Prayers
In all events, we start the day with a morning prayer and seek the protection and intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Nathanael. The day ends with a closing prayer. Students take turns in reciting the daily prayers.
2. Eucharistic Celebration
Holy Mass is celebrated every First Friday of the month. Students and parents are encouraged to attend and participate in the Mass and to receive Holy Communion so as to develop in them a deeper understanding and knowledge of God and His love.
3. Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance)
Students are given the chance to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation at least once in a school year.
4. Season of Advent is the time of preparing the coming of the Lord. Liturgical and para-liturgical activities are scheduled according to grade levels.
5. Season of Lent
The observance of the Season of Lent starts with the Eucharistic celebration and imposition of ashes. Religion teachers schedule meditations on the Stations of the Cross in memory of the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Christ.
6. First Communion
Grade III students are prepared for the reception of their first Holy Communion.
7. Visit
The Parish Church is right beside the School. Students are encouraged to find time to drop for a visit either in the church or in Mama Mary’s Garden for conversation with the Lord and Mama Mary to help them grow in grace, faith, intimacy, and profound love for God.
8. Mission Sunday
The World Mission Sunday is celebrated on the last Sunday of October. This is the time of the year when the Church requests help for the mission through prayers and cash donations. Mission envelopes are distributed in the classroom wherein the students are encouraged to give their share to the mission. Solicitations from other people are encouraged.
9. Relief Operation
In case of calamities such as lahar flow, typhoon, and earthquake, the Nathanaelians are ready to extend a helping hand. Donations in cash or in kind may be solicited and promptly distributed to the affected areas and evacuation centers.
10. Operation Alay Kapwa
Once a year, the school will hold “Operation Alay Kapwa” that gives an opportunity for students to share their material goods with poor children to give emphasis on Charity to make them aware of their responsibilities as Catholic Christians.
